2014-09-05 Visiting the Hergert's

We left Brian and Moses Lake about 1:30 pm on Friday, 9/5/14 and arrived in Idaho a short time later at 3 pm.

One of our favorite families in the whole wide world lives in Athol, Idaho. We visited them last year when  our nieces, Jessica and Sarah, were visiting from Austin Texas.

Friday night we had smores and played Frisbee with a lighted Frisbee.

Although Silverwood Amusement Park is only 3 miles away as the crow flies we decided to spend more time with the Hergert's so we drove up to an overlook and saw their house down in the valley and beautiful Lake Pend Oreille. Later in the afternoon Jennifer and the kids took us to Farragut State Park and we had a hike around the same beautiful lake.

After going to a nice church service on Sunday we went to their rental house and assessed the damage after their renter had moved out the day before.

While Marina and Destry went to an Awana Journey class at church, Eric and I made a repair to the fifth wheel. He looked at the piece of aluminum support for the side skirt and said we can do better than that. Boy howdy!

While all the hard work was going on, Karen and Dakota played games and had a nice chat with each other.

We are so appreciative of the kindness and love that they show toward us. Any time we are heading their way we are sure to be stopping by.

Unfortunately on Monday morning we had to be moving on. We came in the house after our breakfast and hooking up the 5th wheel and all the kids were doing their schoolwork. I helped Eric and Destry with one last bit of computer tweaking before we all went outside to say goodbye.

We recreated a now-famous photograph in front of the 5th wheel, said our goodbyes, got hugs all around and off we went.

Oops, Time to post this, because it's 9 o'clock and as the blog title says, "Ice Cream at 9"!

  1. Wow, that is a big family of 7. Great that you know someone who can weld and do it well. That fix looks very sturdy and I don't think you have to worry about it failing.
