2014-09-03 Ah, Finally Retired

I woke up this morning with the new title of...RETIRED.

My last day of work was yesterday, 9/2/14, and today Karen and I embark on a planned 9 month journey across the country with our 2012 Silverback 29RE 5th wheel. We've had the Silverback for a year now and we've been able to make a half dozen trial weekend runs with it to various places in WA and OR so we feel we are ready for what lies ahead.

So far our 2013 Ford F-250 3/4 ton diesel truck has pulled our new home along the roads with little effort. We are really happy with this combination and our confidence grows with each outing.

Our first day out took us to Moses Lake, WA where our son, Brian, lives and works as an air traffic controller at Grant County Airport. We set up camp at Cascade Campground on the banks of Moses Lake about a mile from where Brian lives.

There were only about a half dozen campers there when we arrived so we had a good choice of sites to pick from. We found one closest to the water with no one obstructing our view. The site was very uneven front to back so we had the front landing gear nearly all the way up and the rear supports nearly all the way down. But it was worth the trouble for the view.

After we were setup the 3 of us headed for the dunes, south of town, for a little driving in the sand. Brian's Jeep Cherokee and over-sized tires were up to the task and we had a blast.

Dinner was at Michael's on the Lake followed by some time back at the trailer planning tomorrow's trip to Grand Coulee Dam.
